Mark has served Calvary Church as the Pastor of Worship & Arts since March 2003. Mark grew up as an Army brat, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, NC. He and his wife, Cindy, met at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN, and they have been laughing together ever since! They were married in 1992 and have a son, Cameron, and a daughter, Taylor.
Mark dedicated his life to Christ when he was ten years old. He discovered his singing voice early, and he was warmly welcomed by the adult church choir, although they had to endure his changing and sometimes unpredictable adolescent voice. Mark’s adventurous musical spirit and an ear for harmony led him to some extraordinary experiences, including a touring southern gospel quartet and a men’s barbershop chorus. Since graduating from Trevecca in 1984, Mark has served at churches in Fayetteville, NC; Memphis, TN; Hereford, TX; Nashville, TN; Kent, WA; Atlanta, GA; Lemont, IL; and Cincinnati, OH.
Mark is determined to help everyone discover a lifestyle of worship. His enthusiastic passion for excellence and Cindy’s gifts for drama and speaking complete a beautiful partnership. Since he began music/worship ministry in 1985, Mark has had the opportunity to serve and create with some of God’s finest musicians, artists and technicians.
Mark collects snow globes, music boxes, and bells. He enjoys reading and writing, and has an eye for decorating and a flair for presentation. Mark likes to shop, even when he doesn’t buy anything. Although his desk usually doesn’t reflect it, he works best when things are neat and in order. Mark’s iPod includes an eclectic mix of R & B, classical, rock and jazz. Mark doesn’t really play an instrument, although he does know how to play the national anthem on the piano, thanks to a college piano class requirement. When not planning worship, he enjoys singing and listening to tight vocal harmonies.
