Small Group FAQ's
What is a small group?
A small group is a gathering of
approximately 10-20 people who meet together regularly for fellowship, Bible
study and prayer. Small groups were created to connect people to one another
and to the life of
Calvary while helping them
apply biblical principles to their everyday life.
Are all groups the same?
No. At
Calvary,
we have all kinds of groups because we have all kinds of people. There are
groups for men, women, couples, empty nesters and college-age singles. There
are also groups that study the Bible in-depth, study topics of life, focus on
intercessory prayer, or focus on a ministry at
Calvary.
Why should I join a small group?
First, you’ll begin to feel
like you’re part of the
Calvary family and not
just a face in the crowd. Second, you’ll immediately be surrounded by people
who will provide a caring network of love and support. Third, you’ll begin to
understand the Bible better as you study the scriptures with others. Finally,
you’ll discover the joy of experiencing life with genuine friends who accept
you for who you are and for who you are becoming.
How often do small groups meet?
Small groups meet once a
week on
Calvary’s campus on Sunday morning,
Sunday night or Wednesday night.
How long does a small group meet?
Small groups meet for a
trimester or four months. New groups begin in January, May and September. The
length of each meeting time is one hour and 15 minutes. Sunday night groups
meet from 6:00–7:15 p.m., and Wednesday night groups meet from 6:30–7:45 p.m.
Check the small group brochure or worship folder for times and locations of
Sunday morning groups.
Is there childcare available?
Yes. Children’s
age-appropriate groups meet at the same time that the adult groups meet. Sunday
evening beginning at 5:45 p.m.; Wednesday evening beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Where do on-campus groups meet?
In the small group brochure and on the small group page it tells room numbers where each group meets. You can view and download a campus map with all room numbers and locations HERE
How do I join a group?
Look through the many choices that
are offered and prayerfully consider where God wants you to grow. Come to the
Resource Center located in the church lobby to
register and purchase your book or workbook. All of our groups are “open”
groups which means you can join at any time during the trimester. If you need
more information on getting involved in a small group, please contact Becky
Moore at 386-8988 or
