Small Groups

God designed us for relationships with one another where we will find encouragement and prayer support in our spiritual journey - and don't we need it these days?!
At Calvary Church, we believe this design is best lived out through the Small Group experience where relationships can be established and nurtured.

SUNDAY SMALL GROUPS - 9:00 AM

Adult Small Groups

AGAPE CLASS (Room 108)
Leaders: Susan Ainsworth, Susan Gray, and Ruth Ann Scroggs
Study: Faith Connections: UNIT 2: The Teachings of Jesus in Matthew
(January—February)
Focus: Jesus came to show us, through His words and actions, what the kingdom of God is all about. During this study, we will examine some of Jesus’ teachings from the book of Matthew.
BIBLE SEEKERS CLASS (Room 303)
Leaders: Russ & Bev Marsh
Study: A Time Between Testaments
Focus: Most people know that our Bible is a single book divided into two sections called “Testaments,” but few really understand why. Between Old and New Testaments there is a 400-year period of recorded prophetic “silence” where Ezra, Nehemiah and Malachi leave off and John the Baptist bursts upon the scene. In our study, we will explore the silent time to find out that God was still at work and that the silent period was all but silent.
THE BEREAN CLASS (Room 103)
Leaders:  Becky Bates, Deborah Sykes
Study: Romans—The Christian Story by James Reapsome
Focus:  The book of Romans is widely regarded as one of the most influential writings of all time. The foundational document of Paul's theology, Romans shaped Church history through men like Augustine, Luther, Bunyan, and Wesley--leaders who were profoundly affected by its teachings. It continues to change millions of lives today. Exploring the beloved book of Scripture that preaches life in Christ, exhorts us in our present sufferings, and promises we are "more than conquerors," this study guide will help you understand what you can do to live a distinctly Christian life.
ACTS 29 CLASS (Room 304)
Leaders: Lisa & Ronnie Hopper, Jennifer & Ron Swanner
Study: The Bible Recap by Tara-Leigh Cobble
Focus: Join us as we explore what God has for us this year through The Bible Recap (TBR). TBR follows a chronological Bible reading plan and is a short daily recap by creator and host, Tara-Leigh Cobble. She’ll highlight and summarize scripture in a casual, easy- to-understand way.
The Bible Recap and the Study Guide are available at Hobby Lobby or Amazon, and on the YouVersion Bible App at no cost.
Anyone can join at anytime. We will continue throughout the year with this study.
YOUNG ADULT CLASS (Room 104)
Leader: Cindy Hodge
Study: Every Thought Captive by Kyle Idleman
(January 4—February 1)
Focus: Are your thoughts drawing you closer to God or pulling you away? Are they building you up or tearing you down? Like molten glass, our lives are constantly being shaped and molded by our thoughts.
Join Kyle Idleman in this five-session video Bible study as he forges a path through the world’s distractions and lies and gets to the heart of true spiritual growth: the renewing of your mind.
This isn't a study on the power of positive thinking but about learning how God made your brain. Learn how setting your thoughts on Christ can create new patterns of thought that will change your life.

WOMEN’S CONNECTION GROUP (Room 303)
Leader:  Bev Marsh
Study: Discovering Jesus in Every Book of the Bible
There was an old television show that opened with a shadow profile. You could tell it was a man, a quite rotund man, but that was about all. Suddenly, the man stepped into the camera view and you saw it was Alfred Hitchcock. In some ways the Bible is like that. Jesus can be found in every book of the Bible, but sometimes we do not clearly see Him at first. In this Bible study we will look at every book of the Bible to see the outline and details of the coming Messiah. From the opening verses of Genesis to the closing pages of Revelation, He is letting us come to know Him. It will be our own Road to Emmaus lesson where Jesus, beginning with Moses, taught how all scripture was given to equip us to know who our Messiah was and what He must do.  Join us!
